The Batbusters (IN) 2011 Beals squad put together a strong weekend in Des Moines, Iowa, earning a runner-up finish at the USSSA Midwest National Championship. Facing a deep field of top-tier 13U competition from across the Midwest, the Batbusters proved once again they belong among the region’s elite.
The team opened pool play on Thursday, July 10, with a 9–0 shutout victory over the Rebels DH 13U, setting the tone with dominant pitching and flawless defense. Later that day, they battled through a tough matchup against the Nebraska Thunder Burns 13U, falling 5–8 in a competitive contest that went back and forth until the final inning.
Friday brought a pair of convincing wins, as the Batbusters defeated the Sycamore Sycos JP 13U (11–2) and Sycamore Sycos KP 13U (8–0) to secure strong seeding heading into bracket play. Their ability to adjust quickly and deliver in big moments highlighted a balanced roster full of athletes who continue to compete at a high level.
On Saturday, July 12, the Batbusters carried that momentum into bracket play with a 5–3 victory in the quarterfinals, advancing to Sunday’s championship rounds. Behind steady pitching, clutch hitting, and solid defense, they continued to show the same intensity that had fueled their tournament run.
Sunday’s schedule brought another classic day of tournament softball — battling through the heat, fatigue, and talented opponents. The Batbusters earned an 8–7 win over WAC Oaks 13U, before falling in a hard-fought championship matchup to Columbus Select 13U, ultimately finishing as Midwest National runner-up.
It was a weekend that showcased what this group is made of — relentless effort, outstanding teamwork, and the ability to rise to any challenge. The players’ focus, energy, and commitment to representing the Batbusters name with pride were on full display from the first pitch to the final out.
